Everything you need to know about the RPET fabrics

RPET fabrics are a new type of eco-friendly recycled fabric. Its yarn is extracted from discarded mineral water bottles and Coke bottles. And recycled yarn reduces petroleum usage. 6 tons of oil can be saved per ton of finished yarn. So, it has made a certain contribution to reducing air pollution and controlling the greenhouse effect.

RPET fabrics have wide use in daily life. Such as canvas shoes, skirts, women’s clothing, tank tops, shirts, cheongsams, children’s clothing, storage boxes, home textiles, curtains, pajamas, umbrellas, etc. Because this product is waste recycling, it is very popular in developed countries in Europe and America.

What are the features of RPET fabrics?

High strength and toughness

The short fiber strength is 2.6~5.7cN/dtex, and the high strength fiber is 5.6~8.0cN/dtex. Due to its lower hygroscopicity, the wet strength of recycled polyester is about the same as the dry strength. The impact strength is 4 times higher than that of nylon and 20 times higher than that of viscose fiber.

Good lightfastness

Lightfastness is second only to acrylic. The light fastness of recycled polyester fabric is better. In addition to being worse than acrylic, its light fastness is better than natural fiber fabrics. Especially behind glass, the light fastness is very good, almost on par with acrylic.

RPET fabrics have good elasticity

Its elasticity is close to that of wool. When the elongation is 5%~6%, it can be almost completely recovered. The wrinkle resistance exceeds other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle. In addition, dimensional stability is good. The modulus of elasticity is 22~141cN/dtex, which is 2~3 times higher than nylon. Recycled polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability. Therefore, it is durable, wrinkle-resistant, and easy-care.


The dyeability is poor, but the color fastness is good and it is not easy to fade

There is no specific dyeing group on the molecular chain of recycled polyester. Therefore, dyeing is more difficult and its dyeability is poor. And the dye molecules are not easy to enter the fiber.

Recycled polyester has good abrasion resistance.

The wear resistance of recycled polyester is second only to nylon with good wear resistance. That is better than other natural and synthetic fibers.

Recycled polyester dries easily after washing

Recycled polyester dries easily after washing. And the wet strength hardly decreases and does not deform. However, it has poor hygroscopicity and feels stuffy when worn.


It is resistant to bleaches, oxidizing agents, ketones, petroleum products, and inorganic acids. Meanwhile, it is resistant to dilute alkalis and is not afraid of mildew. However, hot alkali can decompose it. In addition, they also have strong acid and UV resistance.

The RPET fabric uses recycled and eco-friendly fiber raw materials recycled from Coke bottles. Then, the recycled Coca-Cola bottles are crushed into pieces and processed by spinning. And that is recyclable and effectively reduces CO2 emissions. It saves nearly 80% of energy compared with the conventional process to produce polyester fiber.

Why use RPET fabrics?

Recycled polyester fabric is the repeated recycling of a large number of waste plastic products produced by people’s daily consumption. Then, it can effectively get rid of excessive dependence on oil resources. Besides, it reduces carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, they can protect the environment, and reduce pollution.
